Disclaimer & Risk Warning
Last updated: April 2, 2026
Important: Please Read Carefully
MomentumLab is an informational software platform. It does not provide investment advice, financial advice, brokerage services, portfolio management, or personalised recommendations of any kind. Any investment decision you make is made independently and entirely at your own risk. You can lose part or all of your capital.
1. Informational Purposes Only
MomentumLab provides access to quantitative financial data, model-generated outputs, stock rankings, market trend indicators, backtested performance data, and related analytical information for informational and educational purposes only.
Nothing on this platform constitutes, or should be interpreted as:
- a recommendation or solicitation to buy, sell, or hold any security or financial instrument
- investment advice, financial advice, or trading advice
- portfolio management, asset allocation, or discretionary investment management
- personalised financial, tax, legal, or accounting guidance
- an offer to sell or a solicitation of an offer to buy any security
- brokerage, dealing, custody, or order execution services
2. No Personal Recommendation
The information displayed on MomentumLab is general in nature. The platform does not take into account your:
- individual financial situation, income, or net worth
- investment objectives, goals, or time horizon
- risk tolerance or risk capacity
- tax position or tax residency
- investment experience, knowledge, or sophistication
- existing portfolio, asset allocation, or financial obligations
As a result, the information available through MomentumLab is not suitable as a substitute for professional advice tailored to your individual circumstances. You should always seek independent professional advice before making investment decisions.
3. You Remain Solely Responsible
You remain solely and entirely responsible for evaluating whether any investment, strategy, security, allocation, or action is appropriate for your personal situation.
By using the Platform, you acknowledge and agree that:
- you make all investment decisions independently and of your own volition
- you understand that financial markets involve substantial uncertainty and risk
- you may lose part or all of your invested capital
- you are not relying on MomentumLab as an adviser, fiduciary, or agent
- no adviser-client, fiduciary, or agency relationship is created by your use of the Service
- MomentumLab bears no responsibility for any financial outcomes, whether gains or losses, resulting from decisions you make after viewing information on the Platform
4. Market Risk
Investing in financial markets, including equities and equity-related instruments, involves substantial risk. The value of investments can go down as well as up, and you may receive back less than you invest.
Asset prices can be volatile and may move sharply or unexpectedly due to, among other factors:
- macroeconomic conditions, including recessions, inflation, and monetary policy changes
- interest rate changes and central bank decisions
- geopolitical developments, conflicts, and sanctions
- company-specific events, including earnings surprises, management changes, and accounting irregularities
- market structure events, including flash crashes, circuit breakers, and liquidity crises
- regulatory and legislative changes
- pandemics, natural disasters, and other force majeure events
- changes in investor sentiment and market psychology
Past market behaviour does not predict or guarantee future market behaviour.
5. Model Risk
Quantitative models, including the momentum models used by MomentumLab, are inherently limited. A model may fail, underperform, produce misleading or incorrect outputs, or stop working as expected under different or changing market conditions.
Model risk includes, but is not limited to:
- changing market structure or regime shifts that invalidate historical patterns
- factor crowding — when many investors follow similar strategies, reducing their effectiveness
- momentum crashes — rapid reversals where recent winners underperform sharply
- overfitting — models that fit historical data well but fail in live markets
- data quality issues, including errors, revisions, and delayed data
- look-ahead bias and survivorship bias in historical analysis
- unexpected correlations between positions or factors
- software bugs, calculation errors, or implementation mistakes
- differences between model assumptions and real-world execution conditions
The momentum factor, while well-documented in academic research, has experienced extended periods of underperformance and is not guaranteed to generate positive returns in any future period.
6. Backtests and Historical Performance
Any backtested, simulated, or historical performance data shown on MomentumLab is hypothetical and provided solely for transparency and educational context.
Backtested results do not represent actual trading and may differ materially from real-world outcomes. Historical simulations are subject to numerous limitations, including:
- Survivorship bias: backtests use current S&P 500 constituents applied historically, which excludes companies that were delisted, went bankrupt, or were removed from the index.
- Selection bias: the model and its parameters were designed with knowledge of historical outcomes.
- Data revisions: historical data may have been revised after the dates to which it relates.
- Timing assumptions: backtests assume execution at specific prices that may not have been achievable in practice.
- Transaction costs excluded: brokerage commissions, bid-ask spreads, market impact, and slippage are not included.
- Taxes excluded: capital gains taxes, dividend taxes, and other tax obligations are not included.
- Currency risk excluded: backtests do not account for foreign exchange fluctuations for non-USD investors.
Past performance, whether actual or backtested, does not guarantee, predict, or indicate future results.
7. No Guarantee of Accuracy or Completeness
While we aim to provide accurate and timely information, MomentumLab does not guarantee, represent, or warrant that any data, chart, signal, model output, description, ranking, or statistic is:
- accurate, correct, or free from errors
- complete or comprehensive
- up to date or reflecting current market conditions
- reliable or suitable for any particular purpose
- available without interruption
Data may contain delays, errors, omissions, or discrepancies. Market data is sourced from third-party providers and may not reflect real-time prices or conditions.
8. No Guarantee of Results
MomentumLab makes no representation or warranty, express or implied, that use of the Platform will result in profits, reduced losses, improved investment performance, or better financial outcomes of any kind.
Any examples, rankings, signals, model outputs, or scenarios are illustrative only and do not imply expected, probable, or guaranteed results.
9. Execution and Real-World Differences
Even if a model output is followed exactly, actual results can differ significantly from displayed or historical results due to:
- timing of execution: delays between signal generation and order placement
- price gaps: opening prices may differ from previous closing prices
- broker fees, commissions, and platform charges
- bid-ask spreads and market impact, especially in less liquid names
- slippage: receiving a different price than expected
- tax treatment: varying by jurisdiction, holding period, and individual circumstances
- portfolio size constraints: very large or very small portfolios may not be able to replicate model allocations efficiently
- human error in order execution
- currency conversion costs for non-EUR investors
10. No Custody, Brokerage, or Trade Execution
MomentumLab does not:
- hold, manage, or have access to client funds, assets, or brokerage accounts
- execute, route, or transmit securities orders
- act as a broker, dealer, market maker, or custodian
- provide margin, leverage, or lending services
- manage portfolios on behalf of users
The Platform only displays information and model outputs. All trading activity takes place through your own broker and is entirely your responsibility.
11. Regulatory Status
MomentumLab is not a regulated financial institution. It is not authorised, licensed, or registered as an investment firm, investment adviser, broker-dealer, or financial intermediary by the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM), De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB), the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), or any other financial regulatory authority.
The Service is designed to operate as an information and software service, not as a regulated financial service. It does not fall within the scope of the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID II) as it does not provide investment advice or portfolio management.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, MomentumLab, its founders, directors, officers, employees, affiliates, agents, contractors, and licensors (collectively, the "MomentumLab Parties") shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising out of or related to:
- your use of, or inability to use, the Platform or Service

- errors, inaccuracies, omissions, or delays in data or model outputs
- service interruptions, downtime, or data loss
- unauthorised access to your account or data
- actions, omissions, or failures of third-party service providers
- any investment decision or transaction you make
This limitation applies regardless of the theory of liability (whether in contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or otherwise) and even if the MomentumLab Parties have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Nothing in this Disclaimer excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
14. Professional Advice
You should consider obtaining independent advice from a qualified financial adviser, investment professional, tax adviser, or legal professional before making any financial or investment decisions. MomentumLab is not a substitute for professional advice.

Plain-English Summary
MomentumLab shows you what a quantitative model is doing: which stocks it favours, and whether market conditions look healthy. It does not tell you what you personally should do. Markets are risky, models can be wrong, backtests don't predict the future, and you can lose money. If you need personalised advice, talk to a financial adviser. Every investment decision is yours alone.
